“She is definitely an artist with a vision of how to use her wonderful voice and pair it up with songs that truly move you as a listener.” Maverick UK
Meaghan Blanchard is a 24 year old singer/songwriter from Hunter River PEI.
She draws a lot of her inspiration for performing and songwriting from her grandparents and the memories of the Saturday night dances at the community hall where she got to hear them play.
John Keane, known for producing acts like REM, The Indigo Girls, Widespread Panic and Nanci Griffith, has helped Meaghan craft a record that is head and shoulders above anything she’s done before. She’s Gonna Fly is the result of a chance meeting almost two years ago in Memphis TN between John and Meaghan followed by a late night private audition..
The album was recorded at Keane’s studio in Athens, Ga. in October 2012, The album features 10 finely crafted new songs from Blanchard and great covers of two songs from Seth Livengood of HomeGrown Revival, a progressive Georgia folk act that Keane also produced.
Blanchard’s influences are many and varied, from the more traditional country sounds of artists like Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris to western swing , country gospel and more contemporary country fare as well as Americana like Patti Griffin and Shawn Colvin..
Her second album "Chasin’ Lonely Again" was an ECMA award winner.
Her first album "Changing Things" picked up four Music PEI awards including Folk Album of the Year and received two ECMA nominations.
