~ Dennis Ellsworth ~

Dennis Ellsworth was born and is based in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. His body work, which spans close to twenty years, covers many different genres including rock, roots, country, folk, and rockabilly. He has toured in vans, planes, and slept on floors. His past projects include, Adam’s Eve, The Rude Mechanicals, Tuesdays, The Little Pilgrims, and currently, Battery Point and Haunted Hearts.

He is currently busy playing, touring and writing  with  Haunted Hearts as they establish their credentials as one of the best roots bands in the region. Their album "Thank You Goodnight" was a Music PEI nominee for the  2010 awards and also received a "Rising Star" nomination at this year's ECMA awards in Sydney NS. Dennis continues to work as a solo singer/songwriter.

His other project which recently came to an end, Battery Point was awarded Rock Recording of the Year at the Music PEI Awards in 2008, and was nominated for East Coast Music Awards two years in a row. Battery Point began as a roots project in Toronto in 2005 and morphed into a full force rock n’ roll band when Ellsworth moved back to PEI from Ontario in 2007. It is that first album that has now been re-issued as the Dennis Ellsworth solo project. Haunted Hearts has been nominated for three Music PEI 2010 awards and one ECMA 2010 award.

While living in Toronto from 2001-2007, Dennis  worked with James Gray (formerly of Blue Rodeo), Bob Egan (Wilco, Blue Rodeo), Moe Berg (The Pursuit of Happiness), Jill Barber, and Andy Magoffin (Two Minute Miracles). He has shared the stage with Kathleen Edwards, Ron Sexsmith, Mary Margaret O’Hara, The Rheostatics, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Bob Snider, The Constantines, Elliott Brood, and 54-40.

Toronto was a very fruitful environment and led to major growth in his songwriting. It was a time of great revelation, with some high and low points, all of which contributed greatly to the content and the strength of  the original material he was creating. What began as a past time in high school has turned into two decades of steady growth as a songwriter and performer. That development continues as Dennis re-connects to his Island home and spends time in songwriter haunts like Nashville.

The new phase of Dennis Ellsworth, singer/songwriter begins now with the re-release of this album.
