~ Eyes For Telescopes ~
|
Eyes for Telescopes were a 5 piece Charlottetown PEI based band. They came together back in 2000 to perform at a one time multi media show. For the next five years they rocked the East Coast and beyond with a unique blend of sounds as evidenced on their three albums. The list of acts they performed with was long and included Matt Mays, Nathan Wiley, Joel Plaskett , Sam Roberts, TheTrews , Rock Ranger, Slowcoaster, Jimmy Swift Band, By Divine Right, The Guthries, The Meligrove Band , The Weakerthans, The Constantines, The Heelwalkers and Two Hours Traffic to name a few.
They were nominated twice as alternative rock group of the year by the ECMAs for two different albums in succeeding years. They played the National Arts Festival in Ottawa, NxNE, numerous ECMA showcases, the Halifax Pop Explosion, Gobblefest and their very own festival, Close To The Coast in Charlottetown as they built a loyal following of fans across the eastern part of the country.
Members of the band included Pat Deighan, guitar & vocals; Belinda Doyle, vocals, Dan Currie, guitar & vocals; Craig MacPherson, bass & vocals; Mike MacDougall, drums. |
Third
"Is Charlottetown the new Moncton? The answer would be an emphatic “yes” if you heard this disc. This is lo-fi Eric’s Trip territory, right down to the hand-drawn cover-art. The band’s sound is perhaps a little less Syd Barrett and more Randy Bachman, but the same feeling is there—that great albums need not be perfect. Also, three of the founding members were part of Strawberry, so the seasoned feel to the whole disc is no surprise. And best of all, the band is even better live!" —Dave Hayden -The Coast
