~ Mars Hill ~

EPK
Mars Hill were a band that was not easy to label. They got together in Charlottetown PEI in 2003. The music of Mars Hill was a genre-defying blend of elements from reggae, folk, rock, jazz and hip hop. It was a very original sound. Ethereal keyboards, thick bass lines, jazzy drums and climatic trumpet gave the band a psychedelic 1967 Venice, California feel and vibe while the vocals drag the band’s sound through Kerouac’s New York and Harrison’s Rishikesh.

Their debut album Oxcart was released in October 2004 just in time to garner an ECMA nomination as Alternative Recording of the Year at the 2005 ECMAs in Sydney NS. The album was engineered and produced by Darren Gallop, a member of Slowcoaster at the time through his production company East Cape Productions.

Members of Mars Hill included: Devin Casario, vocals; Chloe Cork, trumpet/keyboards/vocals; Dean Dunsford, bass/guitar and David Weale on drums.

Mars Hill was totally original! They were not just another band.
