~ New Drifts ~

The legendary New Drifts are no more. In their short time as a band, they made an impact. Their only album "Nemesis" was called "one of the most impressive debut albums to surface in Atlantic Canada in 2002."
The New Drifts were a 4 piece band built around Island songwriters James Phillips and Catherine MacLellan. Other members of the group included Stephane Bouchard on bass and Dave Gould on drums and percussion.

Their music was described as "progressive roots music." It incorporated elements of folk, jazz, country and pop into a mostly, but not always, acoustic style with occasional forays into pop and rock. Critics said at the time among the influences they heard on the band were Bruce Cockburn, Joni Mitchell, Blue Rodeo and the Cowboy Junkies. Good company to be in for your first and only album to stand on. The band split up in the fall of 2003. Their spirit and promise live on.

Nemesis

"Nemesis is full of progressive roots music" - Exclaim

" The material is well crafted. The production is crisp ,clean and uncluttered. The arrangements are good. Musically, the band leaves nothing to be desired. The vocals are strong and there are some fine harmonies in places."
