 Every so often the East Coast produces a leader to represent talent to the rest of the world; whether it was Plaskett, MacMaster or Sampson they have a common thread – their work is weathered, timeless and pure. Not a trend but something that’s always been here. Cue Tim Chaisson, a PEI native who can synergize folk traditional with pop expression so seamlessly that you’re in his song as soon as the first note is released with no turning back. That’s not a product of a lucky strike - that’s talent.
Tim Chaisson is a product of kitchen parties, the inescapable osmosis of folk and traditional music. Everything about him is organic, cultivated by both past and present influences. The multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter has created a stronghold in the East Coast music community, having worked steadily as a musician since he was 13 years old and recorded three critically-acclaimed albums. Now in his early twenties, it’s apparent that with maturity and experience, his music has evolved.
The evolution captured the attention of Canadian icon Gordie Johnson (Big Sugar, The Trews, Joel Plaskett), who signed on to produce the much anticipated new record “Broken Hearted Beat”. Johnson, along with Joel Plaskett helped shape the new songs found on the record as evidenced by the co-writes with both found on the album. To have had the opportunity to work with both Johnson and Plakett was a real honor and pleasure and a dream come true for Tim and his crew. With the solid back up of Tian Wigmore (electric guitar, vocals), Nat Lamoureux (drums, vocals) and Brien McCarthy (bass), these Island boys known as Morning Fold will have you listening to this record again and again.
